Full-Arch Implants · All-on-X

We do offer All-on-X. But first we check whether a 3-piece fixed prosthesis is possible. Dr. Jongbum Lee, Clinic Director of Boston Miso Dental Clinic in Uijeongbu, first checks whether a fixed prosthesis divided into three pieces (3-piece) on 6 implants in the lower jaw or 7 in the upper jaw is possible. Because only the piece that develops a problem needs to be repaired, it is easier to maintain over the long term. If anatomical conditions such as the position of bone and nerves, or the cost, are a concern, he recommends All-on-X, in which 4–6 implants are placed in one jaw (upper or lower) to hold a fixed full-arch prosthesis.

Unlike removable dentures that you take out to clean, both options stay fixed in place, and they involve less surgery and lower cost than 12–14 individual implants placed tooth by tooth. When conditions allow, a temporary full-arch prosthesis is fitted within 1 week of implant placement to keep the time without teeth to a minimum.

Same implant, so why do quotes differ? — From pinpointing the problem to revision surgery, bone grafting (bone graft), gum grafting and warranty: seven criteria and their fees, summarized.

Who is this suited for?

On the other hand, if several teeth can still be saved, extracting everything isn't the answer. Since removing less always comes first, we'll show you a comparison against a plan that preserves your remaining teeth and fills only the gaps.

How is this different from dentures or individual implants?

The upper and lower jaws don't have to be treated the same way. As in a case where the lower jaw got a temporary tooth within a week and the two jaws were treated differently and a case with a denture on top and a 4-implant fixed prosthesis on the bottom, we tailor each jaw to its bone condition and your lifestyle.

How is the cost structured?

All-on-X pricing comes in two tiers depending on the prosthetic material. Hybrid (PMMA/acrylic) is the lower-cost option, while zirconia — zirconia over a titanium milled bar framework — is more resistant to wear and discoloration.

It depends on how many implants are placed and whether bone grafting is needed; every item is published on our Fees page. We give you a written quote after diagnosis, before starting.

What is the process and timeline?

  1. Diagnosis & Design — we use 3D CT (CBCT) to find where bone remains, and work backward from the shape of the final prosthesis to decide placement position and angle.
  2. Extraction and placement — teeth that cannot be saved are removed, and 4–6 implants are placed the same day.
  3. Immediate prosthesis — a temporary full-arch prosthesis fitted within a week when conditions allow. Bite height and speech are adjusted during this period.
  4. Healing and final prosthesis — once bonded to the bone, replaced with the final prosthesis (hybrid or zirconia). Typically 4-6 months.
  5. Regular check-ups — we periodically check screw tightness and gum condition.

What matters for it to last?

Care means cleaning under the prosthesis and regular check-ups. Since it's fixed and can't be removed for cleaning at home, we'll show you how to use a water flosser and interdental brush when it's fitted, and we may remove and clean the prosthesis at check-up visits. The implant post warranty (Straumann 10 years, Osstem SOI 7 years) is conditional on regular check-ups.

FAQ

Can I get teeth on the same day as surgery?

If the implant posts are stable enough from the start, we fit a temporary full-arch prosthesis within a week. If stability is insufficient, it's safer to wait until after healing rather than forcing it on. We'll tell you which applies at diagnosis.

How much better is chewing compared to a full denture?

Because it's fixed, you can chew with more force than with a denture resting on the gum, and it doesn't move. That said, it isn't exactly the same as natural teeth, and we recommend easing into harder foods gradually as you adjust.

Is it covered by national health insurance?

All-on-X for a jaw with no teeth left isn't covered by national health insurance (insured implants apply only to a jaw that still has some natural teeth, two per lifetime). If you still have some teeth in that jaw, we can also look at a plan that uses insurance for some of the sites.

※ This is general information. Whether and how it applies to you is explained personally by Dr. Lee, our Clinic Director, after a 3D CT diagnosis. Implant surgery can involve side effects such as pain, bleeding, infection or altered sensation depending on the individual, and treatment results and duration vary with oral condition.
